Setup Guide
- Assess Current Infrastructure: Document your existing Millennium system in detail. Create inventory of all branches, locations, patron types, item types, and circulation policies. Export complete transaction history and bibliographic records.
- Plan Implementation Architecture: Determine server infrastructure, database sizing, redundancy and disaster recovery strategy. Plan for training environments, staging servers, and production infrastructure. Document performance requirements and capacity planning.
- Install & Configure Evergreen: Deploy Evergreen instances, configure organizational hierarchies, create branches and locations, and establish circulation policies. Customize OPAC interface and set up integrated Sierra or other upstream system connections.
- Data Migration: Extract and transform bibliographic records from Millennium. Migrate patron data, item records, and holdings. Validate data integrity, test circulation processes, and verify search functionality across migrated content.
- Staff Training: Comprehensive training for circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, and management staff. Create role-specific documentation and troubleshooting guides. Establish staff support and escalation procedures.
